🌱 From JNV Roots to a Global Vision
In the heartland of Uttar Pradesh, in Amethi-Sultanpur, a young boy named Ratnesh Tiwari entered Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Gauri Ganj in 1996. For seven unforgettable years, Navodaya wasn’t just his school—it was his launchpad of dreams.
Life in JNV taught him the values of discipline, humility, and service while nurturing his natural curiosity for science and innovation. Surrounded by peers from diverse backgrounds, Ratnesh learned early that education was not just about individual success, but about creating impact for society at large.
Academic Excellence – A Journey Through Science & Innovation
After passing out of Navodaya in 2003, Ratnesh pursued a B.Tech in Bio-Chemistry (2006–2010) from BIET, Jhansi. Hungry for deeper expertise, he continued with an M.Tech at Lovely Professional University, Jalandhar (2010–2012).
But it was at the prestigious IIT Delhi (2012–2016), where Ratnesh truly carved his niche. He completed his PhD in Renewable Energy and Sustainable Development, a specialization that combined his scientific curiosity with his passion for environmental sustainability and social progress.
This academic journey laid the foundation for a career that would seamlessly blend science, entrepreneurship, and social responsibility.
Scientist at IIT Delhi – National & International Impact
From 2016 to 2019, Ratnesh worked as a Scientist at IIT Delhi, contributing to national and international projects on clean energy and sustainable development. His work was not confined to laboratories—it was tied to solving real-world challenges like climate change, energy access, and environmental sustainability.
Supported by prestigious organizations like the World Bank, GIZ, UNF, TERI, MHRD, and MNRE, his projects created solutions that touched lives far beyond India’s borders. At IIT Delhi, Ratnesh built a reputation as a scientist who combined academic brilliance with practical vision, delivering results that advanced both knowledge and society.
Koshish – Turning Science into Social Change
Science for Ratnesh was never meant to remain in research papers. Driven by a desire to create tangible social and environmental impact, he founded Koshish—an enterprise dedicated to eco-friendly and sustainable solutions.
Under his leadership, Koshish explored Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives and the carbon marketplace, while also innovating in the fields of:
- Biogas & Bio-Manure 🌱
- Solar Solutions ☀️
- Sustainable Sanitation 🚰
Each initiative carried a singular vision: to make sustainability accessible and impactful, particularly for communities at the grassroots.
Through Koshish, Ratnesh proved that entrepreneurship can be more than profit—it can be about purpose and progress.
Finance Meets Social Impact – Board Member, Satya Microcapital
Since 2017, Ratnesh has also been serving as a Board Member at Satya Microcapital Limited, one of India’s leading microfinance institutions. This role expanded his horizons from clean energy to financial inclusion, giving him first-hand experience in serving the underserved and unbanked communities of India.
His contributions here are rooted in his belief that true development begins at the bottom of the pyramid—by empowering those who need it the most.
A Navodaya Soul – Always Giving Back
Despite his towering achievements, Ratnesh remains grounded in his Navodaya identity. He is known in the alumni community as someone who is:
- Always supportive and approachable for guidance in biotech, finance, and sustainability.
- Always generous, contributing and donating wholeheartedly for any cause connected with Navodaya.
- Always inspiring, reminding fellow Navodayans that success is meaningful only when it uplifts others.
Many young Navodayans look up to him not just for career advice, but also as an example of how to balance personal ambition with community service.
